Once Upon a Time Challenge

After reading the rave reviews of others, I've decided to join Carl's Once Upon a Time book challenge. There are four different levels in which to participate in this challenge, but because I know myself, I'm going to opt for the easiest (ahem, wimpiest) one. Basically, I only have to read one qualifying book in the Fantasy, Folklore, Fairy Tale, and Mythology genres between now and June 20th. Just one. If I happen to read, say 5, then I get to the next level.

There are lots of books I want to read that qualify though! I'm surprised at the number of series that I'm part way through. Participating in the challenge will give me a good excuse to get back to them.

Book Possibilities:

Queen of Camelot
The Princess Bride
Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix (5th in the series)
To Say Nothing of the Dog
The Subtle Knife (2nd in the series)
Lirael (2nd in the series)
Something Rotten (4th in the series)
The Big Over Easy
Enna Burning (2nd in the series)
Stardust
Beauty
The Magic Circle

Wahoo! Glad you're joining us. You've got a great list - I really liked Enna Burning a lot and The Princess Bride is truly classic reading. Can't wait to read your review(s) :)

His Dark Materials and The Old Kingdom trilogy are both among my favourite series. I hope you enjoy your picks :)

Did you read Sabriel already? Lirael is very well done, and a very different story from Sabriel. I enjoyed the whole series quite a bit.

Corinne and Nymeth: I think I'd better get cracking! I'm hoping to rack up a few more books in May when I have time off from school. I might make Quest the First yet...

Emilia: Yes, I read Sabriel last year for my YA Lit class and really enjoyed it. I'm not a huge fantasy fan, but I'm trying to broaden my literary tastes.

Glad you'll be joining in! It looks like Shannon Hale books are popular for this challenge!

I'm so glad you're joining us. The Journey isn't really a wimp option, it is really there to give folks who #1 don't read fantasy an incentive to go ahead and give it a try and #2 for those who don't want the stress of a 'challenge' but do want the fun of participating in this brief community experience. I look forward to seeing what you choose to read.

And by the way, I love your blog header!!!

Stephanie: I agree! Shannon Hale needs to write faster the way we are going through them!

Carl V.: Thanks for being such a gracious host. I just feel wimpy (even though I don't see it as a wimp option), but next year I'm planning on getting into it more. My blog header is nothing compared to your awesome challenge logos--but thanks! :)
