In the afternoon I'll be checking into a hotel with my friend, and new book blogger, Shanda. We decided it would be fun to make it a girls weekend and enjoy a little peace, without the guilt that comes while reading with kids underfoot.
I've also got a couple of books in transit at the library that I hope come in for tomorrow too. If they do, I'll add to my stack:
- The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
- The Railway Children by Edith Nesbit
- The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

Nice collection there. I've read a few of those books - Life As We Knew It, How I Live Now, Things Fall Apart, and Little Brother - and I look forward to reading your thoughts on them. Good luck with the read-a-thon - I bet it will be a blast.
A girls weekend with books sounds like so much fun!! I hope you and Shanda have a blast!
I know you're all set to go, but I just want to recommend the audio version of 'how I live now'. Kim Mai Guest reads and I think is a huge part of why I really liked this story.
On a related note, I read "Things Fall Apart" for a college class. The amusing thing was that half way through the book, every one of us who bought a copy at the college bookstore had the paperback cover fall off. We thought it was a pretty good joke on the publisher's part and were a little sad to find out it was just a bad batch of glue in the printing house.
Three cheers for Georgette Heyer!
Wish I could particpate but I have to work tomorrow. :(
What I want to know is - How are you going to get any reading done? I'll bet you get more talking in that reading! At least, I would.
Good for you guys, wish I could check into a hotel, my day is so packed tomorrow, but I'm still participating!
I haven't read any of the books in your pile either! I'm interested to see how you like them!;) Good luck with the read-a-thon!!
This is a fun idea of reading with friends. Makes it super exciting and also u get motivated by each other . But that is if u dont start chatting :)
Your selection is really good. Have fun
That sounds like so much FUN! wow!
That's a cool looking pile, Little Brother will keep your readathon pace up.
I thought about getting away this weekend for the read-athon, but unfortunately our timeshare wasn't available, and I didn't want to spend the money :(
I know you will have a wonderful time this weekend. Enjoy!
How fun! I'm glad you got to make some girls time out of it and really just read!
Have a wonderful Day; enjoy your books, and take time to rest as well. It is pouring here so it's the perfect day to be in the house reading and relaxing!
